Have You Heard About The Second Service Program?

In Indiana, state senators unanimously passed a bill to create the Second Service program. The program would require state colleges and universities to give education credit to veterans or members of the Indiana National Guard. This is fantastic news for Indiana veterans!

Veterans could have easier access to a teaching degree in Indiana if legislation passed by the state Senate continues to gain support.

They would receive credit for courses taken during service or for passing equivalency exams.

Colleges and universities also would be required to offer in-state tuition to any veteran accepted to the program. Veterans from other states would be required to teach at an Indiana public school for one year.

Both the full House and governor must also approve the bill before it becomes law.

We’ll keep you posted as new information becomes available.
